Covering a classic tune is always a risky endeavour. You have to smash it out of the ballpark or you’ll just embarrass yourself. It’s a big ask… One that Sydney producer Enschway has teamed up with fellow Aussie and frequent collaborateur O5CAR have just taken on.
Few Calvin Harris tracks rise to the lofty nostalgia and ~vibes~ of the 2009 club hit “I’m Not Alone” off his sophomore album “Ready For The Weekend“. It’s a fairly delicate track by banger-standards and the drop has iconic synth stabs that were inescapable in that moment of dance music history. It’s the kinda track I remember hearing at random house parties when I was a teenager – it’s got those sorts of throwback qualities that cast a big shadow.
It’s safe to say there were high expectations when I saw that the pair had taken on the classic club anthem.
Thankfully the two producers managed just the right balance of keeping enough of the original track in mind yet giving it a 2017 makeover of heavy dubstep synths and highly percussive beats.
