Well it’s technically called “Say OK” not just “OK”, and it’s better than just OK, it’s a ripper of a steely bubblegum club-pop track.
Lewis Cancut is a producer based down in Melbourne who has previously produced festival bangers for Tkay Maidza (get around “Wishes” and “Arm Up” if you haven’t yet) and goddamn freaking J-Lo’s mammoth tune, “Booty“. It’s pretty clear that Lewis has pretty good taste in vocalists, so it’s a pleasure to be introduced to Japanese rapper, singer and producer, Tigarah, who features on this track.
The production is equal parts tropical and industrial, with a complimentary vocal that is beautifully bouncy and oh-so-kuwaii.
This new joint from Lewis Cancut is the third release on NLV Records, the record label that Nina Las Vegas founded upon her resignation from her longstanding role at triple j hosting the Mixup Exclusives program. It’s great to see a strong sound profile building for the label, one that is currently under-catered for in Australia. Stay tuned to hear more from Lewis Cancut and the burgeoning new label.
